Antivirus & endpoint protection
Business antivirus helps detect and block malicious software on supported devices. Endpoint detection and response (EDR) adds visibility into suspicious activity and tools to investigate and respond. Microsoft Defender for Business is designed for organisations with up to 300 users and is available standalone or within Microsoft 365 Business Premium. Server protection requires additional licensing; platform support and configuration must be checked.
ESET & SentinelOne endpoint protection
Alongside Microsoft Defender we deploy and manage ESET and SentinelOne. ESET business protection is delivered through ESET PROTECT bundles covering endpoint, server, mobile and mail security, with options for full disk encryption, cloud sandbox analysis and central management from the ESET PROTECT console. The SentinelOne Singularity platform uses behavioural AI to detect and contain threats on endpoints and cloud workloads, with rollback to restore a device after a malicious change, and optional managed detection and response cover. Licensing is usually per device or per user, and supported platforms should be confirmed for servers, macOS and mobile devices before deployment.
Email & account security
Phishing can target both mailboxes and the people behind them. Multi-factor authentication, appropriate access permissions and secure account-recovery procedures help reduce the risk of stolen credentials. Microsoft 365 Business Premium includes additional email and identity protection capabilities, subject to licensing and setup. Security policies should cover shared mailboxes, administrator access and joining or leaving staff.
Device management & updates
Keeping operating systems and applications supported and updated reduces avoidable exposure. Microsoft Intune, included in Business Premium, can help manage supported devices and apply policies. Disk encryption, screen locks and restricting unnecessary administrator privileges are additional considerations. Bring-your-own-device and remote-working arrangements need clear rules about which data and devices are managed.
Network boundaries & secure access
Fortinet FortiGate firewalls can help control traffic, provide VPN access and add inspection or filtering through suitable FortiGuard subscriptions. Separate guest Wi-Fi from business systems and limit remote access to the people and services that need it. Hardware, active subscriptions and careful configuration work together; a firewall does not replace protection on laptops, desktops or servers.
Ransomware resilience & recovery
Combine endpoint protection with controlled access, protected backups and tested restores. Define backup retention and who can delete or change backup copies. Staff awareness of unexpected attachments, suspicious sign-in prompts and payment-change requests is important too. Agree how to report an incident and who will respond; no product or service can guarantee prevention of every attack.
